Lance Wright

Lance grew up in Kitchener, Ontario and first attended Silver Lake as an Intermediate camper in 1981. Intrigued by Silver Lake and liking the boy/girl ratio, he returned for the following four years. After a Leadership Development Camp summer in '85, Lance was a main site counsellor from '86 - '87 and Wilderness Director in '88. From '89 - '92, Lance was the Youth Camp Program Director, and from '94 - '05, Lance was Youth Camp Director. From '89 - '92, Lance was a Leadership Camp counsellor and from '93 - '08, Lance was the director of Leadership Camp II.

While continuing to keep summers open for camp, Lance was a Christian Education Director at First United Church in Waterloo from '93 - '98 and a Pastoral Associate at St. John United Church in Hamilton from '98 - '09. In these church leadership roles, Lance initiated innovative and dynamic programs for children, youth, contemporary worship and leadership development. Throughout this time, Lance was also a leader and creative force behind Youth Eventz programs and worship services for young people in southern Ontario.

In 2009, Lance founded Scene Change with a vision to fuel a movement of young people who imagine and create a more just and compassionate world. Scene Change programs include theatre projects and experiential learning events like the Amazing Race for the Human Race, the Global Village and the Global Dinner.

Lance lives in Hamilton with his wife Peggy and their 3 boys - James, Nathan and Andrew. Their home is a base for homeschooling that Peggy leads, students who share the home, and Just Creative - a video production and web design business that Lance founded and operates.

Lance is a visionary, writer, producer and empowering leader who believes in the potential each of us has to change the world one choice at a time. As someone who was significantly shaped by Silver Lake, Lance is honoured to have the opportunity to help staff and campers soak in the richness of Silver Lake as they discover their faith and God-given potential.

Silver Lake Camp's
Mission Statement

Our goal at Silver Lake Camp is to share the good news of Jesus Christ, of His ressurection and of the promise of new life in Him.

To do this, we make Christ central to all aspects of our programs, leadership and camp community. Much of our focus revolves around building honest, positive relationships with Jesus.

By setting an example in our own lives, it is our hope that we can communicate the value and nature of a personal relationship with Christ himself.
